£5 MILLION PROGRAMME TO BOOST CLEANER, SAFER, GREENER 'KNOW-HOW'

A new £5 million programme to support the drive by councils and local agencies to create cleaner, safer and greener communities was today launched by Liveability Minister Phil Hope.

The How to programme will help practitioners - from local councils and the police to neighbourhood wardens and street cleaners - take more effective and innovative action to improve the quality of town centres, neighbourhoods and parks.

The transformation of a housing estate known locally as the dog track into a colourful, clean community by dedicated residents has been rewarded with first prize in our ‘A Picture of Change’ competition.

WHO'S GOT THE TOP COMMUNITY SPACE IN YOUR REGION?


The transformation of a field used by fly tippers, dog walkers, motorcyclists (and occasionally, the odd burglar as a getaway route), into an integrated community garden is one of the winning regional projects in our ‘A Picture of Change’ competition.
