CONTROL OF FLYPOSTING

A good practice guide supplied by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). It aims to provide local authorities and other agencies with a manual to assist them in controlling flyposting in an effective and efficient way. The Guide combines an explanation of current legal procedure with practical examples of successful action taken by authorities, as well as steps which can be taken to limit the incidence of fly-posting.

LIVEABILITY CHALLENGE

Basic clear information regarding "liveability" (greener, safer, cleaner), which allows you to discuss the issues on-line. It defines liveability and identifies the key issues and obstacles that need to be tackled if we are to improve the quality of people's everyday lives. This is an interactive site from the IDeA and BBC Worldwide learning, providing an e-learning module that includes flyposting and demonstrates how councils and others have tackled some of the liveability issues.

KEEP BRITAIN TIDY

Keep Britain Tidy is the national litter abatement agency funded by government. The campaign is run by ENCAMS, which can provide publications, advice, research and campaign materials to local authorities, the public, businesses or other organisations.

LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY SURVEY

The Local Environmental Quality Survey of England is an annual report measuring the prevalence of flyposting across 10,000 sites. It assesses the condition of the public space and also includes reports on litter, dog fouling, graffit and fly-tipping. It makes comparisons to previous years and recommends improvements. The survey is carried out by ENCAMS which runs the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
