THE COMMISSION FOR RACIAL EQUALITY

The CRE operates very much like the EOC (see above). It is a publicly funded body set up under the Race Relations Act 1976 to tackle racial discrimination and promote racial equality. It works in both the public and private sectors to encourage fair treatment and to promote equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their race, colour, nationality, or national or ethnic origin. It provides information and advice to people who think they have suffered racial discrimination or harassment. You can telephone 020 7939 0000 for personal advice, or visit www.cre.org.uk for general information. Race Equality for Social Landlords - guidance for the handling of harassment and racial equality for social landlords can be found at www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_housing/documents/page/odpm_house_603873.hcsp

LEARNING THROUGH LANDSCAPES

Learning through Landscapes (LTL) campaign for children's right to decent school grounds and help make school grounds better places. LTL believe that many people do not understand the importance of school grounds to children's learning and development. But they are essential, providing unique opportunities for healthy exercise, creative play, and making friends; for learning through doing; for putting children in touch with the natural world. The LTL website deals with all issues relating to school grounds, and is useful for teachers, governors and local authorities.

It works in partnership to conserve and enhance the historic environment, broaden access and increase people's understanding of the past. It maintains a register of England's most significant historic buildings, monuments and landscapes including a photo archive and cares for over 400 historic buildings on behalf of the nation. It also administers grants and has learning resources for teachers and others.

THINK! ROAD SAFETY

Think! Is a Department for Transport campaign to get the public to think more about road safety. On the Think Road Safety website you can find news of the latest campaigns and road safety advice. You can download leaflets, factsheets and posters for more information and there are links to other sites you might find useful. There are special sections for parents, teachers, police officers and road safety officers to help get the right road safety message across. And they've provided lots of facts and figures for journalists and students researching road safety issues.

There is also a section for children, including an interactive Hedgehog and Arrive Alive sites, where they can play games, download materials or watch television ads. Visit www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk
