OPERATION SCRAP-IT

Run by the Association of London Government (on behalf of all London Boroughs) and the Home Office, Operation Scrap-It is a campaign to rid London's streets of untaxed and abandoned vehicles. This programme aims to improve Londoners' quality of life by ending the environmental blight caused by nuisance vehicles, by taking away unwanted cars for free and disposing of them safely. If you would like more information on abandoned vehicles in London telephone 020 7747 4822 or visit www.alg.gov.uk/scrap-it/index.htm

OPERATION SCRUB-IT

A partnership between the Home Office, Crimestoppers, Network Rail, London Underground and the British Transport Police. Scrub-it is part of the “Together” campaign and is an anti-graffiti initiative designed to identify and prosecute graffiti “taggers”. It aims to provide a national database of graffiti practitioners to aid prosecution cases, and gives advice and support on graffiti removal. There are also details of the Taking a Stand awards and how you can get involved. For further information telephone 0870 0001585, or visit www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime/antisocialbehaviour/

IT'S YOUR SPACE

It's Your Space is primarily a website resource to inspire local people to apply for funding to transform a community space including parks or gardens on their doorstep. It gives links to a variety of funding sources and advice on applying, and gives many examples of local people who have already taken things into their own hands. It encourages people and organisations to sign up to the Manifesto for Better Public Spaces and explains the essential ten ingredients that make a great public space.
