COUNTRYSIDE AGENCY

The Countryside Agency was established by the Government in 1999 and is funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). It aims to conserve and enhance England's countryside, spread social and economic opportunity for the people who live there, and help everyone, wherever they live and whatever their background to enjoy the countryside and share in this priceless asset. The Agency has provides publications, case studies and learning networks.

GOOD DOG CAMPAIGN

A campaign to promote responsible dog ownership funded by Masterfoods and supported by the National Dog Wardens' Association. Information is provided to help local authorities and dog wardens develop responsible dog ownership campaigns within their communities. There is also a Good Dog Campaign Annual Local Authority Award.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES COMMISSION (EOC)

The EOC is the leading agency working to eliminate sex discrimination and is mainly funded by government. It deals with issues of bullying, harassment and discrimination (mainly of women). Its website has sections on the law, research, statistics, policies and campaigns. If you have been unfairly treated or harassed at work and you believe it's because you're a woman or because you're a man, you can contact the free confidential helpline on 0845 601 5901 for practical advice. The EOC can help resolve problems amicably, or advise you on how to take your case to an employment tribunal or a court.

THE CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT RURAL ENGLAND (CPRE)

CPRE is an organisation that campaigns to protect and enhance the countryside for the benefit of everyone. As well as highlighting problems and threats to the countryside, it carries out research, canvasses opinion and advocates solutions. CPRE seeks to influence policy makers and opinion formers at every level and often works in partnership with other local and national bodies.
